Euro 2008 - Group A

Review

Group A is one of the strongest groups and is therefore going to be one of the hardest to qualify from. The four teams in group A all have a decent chance of progressing to the qualifying rounds because they all posses different strengths.

The obvious strength in Portugal’s squad is that they have some of the best players in the world playing for them in Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo Quaresma and Ricardo Carvalho.

Secondly the Czechs have strength in the fact that they have without a doubt the best goalkeeper in the world guarding their goal not to mention a team that has a few if any weak players so we could be seeing them making a push for the final.

Turkey on the other hand have the fact that they are considered underdogs to spur them on plus the support they have is for lack of a better word fanatical, and when I say fanatical it really is meant. Turkey’s supporters have long been their twelfth man when competing on the international stage.

Last but not least we have the co hosts Switzerland who of course have their home advantage to add strength to an already formidable squad so this group is likely to go down to the wire and im sure it will produce some cracking football for fans to drool over.
